For close to 70 years, Godfrey Personnel, Inc. has been a leader in meeting the staffing needs of top Chicago area Insurance carriers, brokers, MGA’s, MGU’s, third party administrators, and other industries that require Insurance professionals.

Our Mission

Our mission is to have the utmost honesty, integrity, and ethics representing both Employers looking for new talent and Candidates seeking employment.  Our goal is to serve the Insurance Industry from small brokers and medium-size insurance company’s to large and international carriers.  Everyone that utilizes Godfrey Personnel services will be treated courteously and professionally.


Donald Godfrey opened Godfrey Personnel, Inc. for business in 1950.  Mr. Godfrey was an excellent salesman, honest, hardworking, and certainly had an entrepreneurial spirit. We were generalists, placing candidates in: Insurance, Aerospace, Recent High School and College Graduates (Trainees), Accountants/Bookkeepers, Security Guards, Manufacturing, Secretaries and General Office Workers. In the mid 1970’s, we started to migrate towards handling more Insurance positions. At one point during those years we progressed to exclusively staffing the Insurance Industry.

Donald Godfrey had a number of staffing firms to his credit. Of course there was Godfrey Personnel the flagship office. The names of others were Today Personnel, Select Personnel, Ideal Personnel, and College Personnel.  They were merged or sold over the years. 

In the Spring of 1979, Jim Godfrey started as a Recruiter at Godfrey Personnel.  Three years later in 1982, Donald Godfrey retired and moved to California.  Jim took over the reigns and has owned and managed Godfrey Personnel ever since.
